Many of the de-dusting units that exist today are no longer at the latest state-of-the-art in design and function. Very often the principles of filtering used are obsolete and inefficient. The modernisation of an existing de-dusting unit is far less trouble and a smaller investment, than is generally anticipated, and brings forth a multiplicity of advantages and cost savings with it. In addition new regulations make modernisation more and more necessary. For example a residual dust exposure for lime sand bricks was 20mg/m³ earlier; however, today regulations of 5 or 10mg/m³ are valid.

Real modernisation

A modernisation project consists mainly for us of the replacement of the filter heads of an existing unit with a modern de-dusting concept.  Here we make use of pulse jet cleaning system. In pulse jet cleaning the filter bags are de-dusted by means of a sharp blow of pressurised air from a venturi nozzle. The filter cake is separated from the filter medium and is deposited in the dust emission. When the pulse jet system is installed, the de-dusting can be carried out without having to clean the filter bags during operation.

Concrete advantages

By replacing the existing filter heads with the filters based on the pulse jet system, including a modern control system, the surface area of the filters can be expanded without having to extend the size of the unit. A lesser load on the surface area of the filters can be achieved using the same amount of air and this therefore leads to a higher degree of efficiency.

Even the operating costs of the unit are reduced as the unit fitted with the pulse jet separators needs considerably less servicing and due to the bag connectors using snap rings the filter can also be changed by untrained personnel.
