As a rule wet scrubbers are used in the different steps of glass wool production. Münstermann has now developed an innovative process in which wet scrubbers are replaced by a dry de-dusting system. From this there are a range of advantages.

Details on precise applications

After the oven process the glass wool mats are cut to size. The remaining cut off pieces including the sawdust is drawn off through the Münstermann filter. The illustration shows a 3D-sketch of the de-dusting unit. In the foreground the pre-separator (chains) for the larger glass wool particles can be seen.

Advantages of dry de-dusting

  • The drop in pressure (energy consumption) is less in filter units than when wet scrubbing is used.
  • The waste water containing dry and harmful substances, when wet scrubbing has to be applied, has to be specially disposed of.
  • When dry de-dusting the separated dust can be fed back to the product again.
  • In filter units the ancillary equipment is not as elaborate as with wet scrubbers. No slurry tank, for example, is therefore required.

A multitude of areas of application

The new Münstermann de-dusting units can naturally be used with similar production processes in which fluffy substances are deposited. The advantage of this filter in these applications is the large settling chamber under the filter cartridges. This makes it possible to filter out especially light materials before the actual filtering takes place.

Specific conceivable applications include:

  • Recycling systems
  • Materials blown into a cement kiln
  • Processing plants
  • Plastics processing industry
