Filter media for de-dusting units
One very important factor is the right choice of the filter media for de-dusting units.
Above all, the allocation of the filter media to the de-dusting system is to be kept in mind. In the cases of de-dusting systems with back washing or back washing with vibration the filter media with a higher air permeability rate (from 180-200 litres/dm²/min at a negative pressure 20daPa) can be used.
Where jet-de-dusting is applied the air permeability of the filter media may not go below certain rates as otherwise pulsating de-dusting with a dust breakthrough (at approx. 140 litres/dm²/min at a negative pressure of 20daPa)is to be reckoned with.
A further criterion for the correct choice of filter media is the process related factors (e.g. gas temperature, oil mist, vapours, potentially explosive dusts etc.).
There are a large number of different types of equipment used with filter media (e.g. surface treatment with calendaring, filter membranes applied with metal filament to earth the loop against potentially explosive dusts).
Two or three wrongly supplied filter media, which were interesting from a cost point of view, are very much more expensive than a filter media which is a slightly higher investment but the right choice, i.e. the correct choice of filter media from specialists can prevent much trouble and save money.
